Dayjob Gallery

So, want to do something to brighten up your life and your coworkers at the same time? If you work in an office setting of some sort as I do, you've more than likely got at least one ugly, boring wall with nothing on it. Well, my buddy Gary Rittermeyer and I decided to turn one of those walls in our shared office space into an art gallery. Gary's an accomplished photographer, but rarely gets an opportunity or a reason to shoot anything that pushes his creativity. And, well, I can draw and stuff.

We change it up on the first Friday of each month, just like the 'real' galleries, and bring in some goodies for the folks who come in and peruse the works. Last month was some gourmet coffee, and this month, tomorrow, will be sparkling cider and cheese. This'll be our third 'showing', and I have to tell you, our office is buzzing about it. They just Can't Wait.

While everyone else is putting up gaudy, tacky X-Mas decorations, we're putting up tasteful fine art. And, yes, Gary and I have both received comissions because of the gallery stuff.

Here's the pieces I did last month:

I did a very rough pencil sketch for each, just laying down the placement of the shapes, and then went in with brush and ink. These are more or less in the order that I completed them, done over the course of a week.

For this month, I'm putting up two paintings. I hope to get pictures of them up tomorrow night (way too big to scan in).
