Superhero Sunday - D Day
From the time I was about eight I started creating my own superhero characters and stories. I thought it'd be fun to come back to some of these characters and see what ideas still work.
This character's name is D-Day. Originally I had him as the ultimate soldier being flung through time and having to fight in every major conflict through history. Pretty heady stuff for a fourteen year old kid, huh? He was originally called Doomsday when I first created him, because he knew his last battle would be the final battle in the universe to ever be fought. I changed the name when there was some popular character somehow related to Superman that came out a few months later. The 'D' stands for 'Destiny' after the change.

Thinking on it now, I'd still go with the warrior getting thrown through time and having to fight in every battle, but play up more on someone being in that sort of constant action and the tolls it would take on the psyche. How much could someone take and not snap, and what would it take to NOT snap, because of the responsibility he has to be a pivotal part of the last battle in history? Also, what if he's not the only soldier with this fate? What if there's someone else who is on the other side? How would that complicate a relationship over eternity? Would they become friends, would they develop an unending hatred for each other? What if the two of them are getting flung through time in different orders, confronting each other at different points in one another's lives?
That's a book I could write the hell out of.
Here's the cover I did when I was fourteen (half my life ago!).
